Cinema: Journal of Philosophy and the Moving Image does not have article submission/publication fees.
Author Guidelines
Original and unpublished typescripts that are not being considered for publication elsewhere should be submitted by email [cjpmi@fcsh.unl.pt] following the notes and bibliography citation system described in The Chicago Manual of Style (notes and bibliography) with endnotes instead of footnotes.
Articles should be between 5000 and 7500 words in length, including notes. Shorter or longer articles may be considered for publication at the discretion of the editorial board.
Interviews should also be between 5000 and 7500 words in length, including notes. Prospective authors should contact the interviews editor (Susana Nascimento Duarte).
The word count for book reviews and conference reports is between 1000 and 2500 words, including notes. Prospective authors should contact the book reviews editor (Maria Irene Aparício) or conference reports editor (William Brown).
Authors who wish to include figures in an article must provide the date and the copyright holder for each figure as captions. Figures are to be submitted as supplementary JPEG or TIFF files with a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
Submission Conditions
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
1) The submission has not been previously published, nor is it being considered for publication by another journal.
2) The submission file is in Microsoft Word, Pages, RTF, or WordPerfect document format and in A4 size.
3) Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
4) The text is double-spaced; uses a 11-point font; with italics instead of underlining (except in URL addresses); with figures, illustrations, and tables inserted in the text at the appropriate points and not at the end of the document.
5) The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the above Author Guidelines.
6) If submitting to a peer reviewed section of the journal, the instructions that ensure a blind peer review have been followed.
Guidelines for Special Issues
Cinema: Journal of Philosophy and the Moving Image (CJPMI) accepts proposals for Special Issues submitted by experts in a specific field, within CJPMI’s Aims and Scope: see Special Issues.
Copyright Notice
Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
